An Open Seminar on the World Heritage of Nepal

With special reference to Buddhist culture and heritage in Kathmandu Valley

Lotus Research Centre proudly announces an open seminar on the Buddhist heritage and World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu valley. Of altogether ten world heritages sites in Nepal, Kathmandu Valley is the home of seven of them. It is considered to be one of the highest concentration of world heritage sites in the world, having seven world heritage sites within an area of 20 km. The programme is intended to provide introduction and ideas about the Nepalese heritage to the foreign visitors willing to get acquinted with it. The program will contain a series of lectures and guided tours.

List of the lectures:

Lecture-1             'An introduction to world heritage of Nepal'

Time: 5:00 pm

This will be followed by a guided tour to the world heritage sites of Kathmandu and Lalitpur on 2/26 and that of Bhaktapur on 2/27.

Lecture-2 'Buddhism and culture of Nepal Mandala'

Time: Morning

2/28      

Lecture-3             'An introduction to Nepalese Buddhist images'

Time: Morning

This will be followed by a guided tour to the museum.

Lecture-4            'Monasteries of Nepalese Buddhism

Time: Morning

This will be followed by a guided tour to some of the important Buddhist Monasteries in Kathmandu Valley.  

Notes:

-             LRC takes the pleasure of arranging lodging facilities to the foreign participants.

-             LRC is also happy to provide Japanese and English speaking guides to the participants.
